This was probably the first album to launch hardcore gangsta rap with unapologetic full force (and I’m certainly not referring to the old school R&B group/production collective that made hits with Lisa Lisa) undoubtedly a revolutionary benchmark album for the culture, appropriately released in what was arguably the best year for Golden Era hip hop albums, 1988, alongside equally timeless releases from Public Enemy, EPMD, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, Boogie Down Productions and countless others.
